Romney Campaign Again Warns Of ‘Soviet’ Threat | TPM2012
The Romney campaign doesn’t know what year it is.
The same thing he did to raise them:
NOTHING!

If he opened the oil reserves gas prices would fall guaranteed. The Federal government is infringing on the ability of the free market to work.
I’m pretty sure the federal government adding oil to the system to drive down gas prices and thus driving down oil corporate profits is pretty much the definition of free market meddling.
I don’t totally disagree that we should open up the oil reserves but hey man if you’re a free market libertarian at least be consistent. That pain you feel at the pump is your beloved free market capitalism.

The US consumes about 178M barrels of gasoline a day, and has about 727M barrels of crude in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. Considering that about half of the SPR is sour crude, you’re probably looking at only about 200M barrels of gasoline.
So, if you liquidate our entire emergency oil reserve AND refine it, you introduce about a day’s consumption worth of product to the market. Arguing that not doing this is driving up gasoline prices is akin to saying your mother is driving up your grocery bill by not letting you have the frozen dinner she’s saving.
But the part that’s stupid is we’re still arguing that gasoline should be cheap. Why aren’t we investing in public transportation systems, alternative energy, and other ways that we can transport goods and people across our big-ass country without contributing to, you know, global warming (which is real) caused by pollution (which is real) instead of blaming one dude for not making everything really easy for us (which he can’t do) because we’re too short-sighted to not base our entire economy on a non-renewable resource (that we will run out of in ten years, based on current consumption and retrievable total reserves).

Hipsters came and put up a bunch of Kony2012 posters in my neighborhood last night. Jen pointed out that the color scheme for the African mass murderer is a little too similar to the color scheme for the iconic Hope poster.
Way to be dicks Kony2012.
Mitt Romney is a cookie snob. We’re done here.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Republicans controlling the House are eying big cuts to food stamps and would make it more difficult for illegal immigrants to claim child tax credits as they piece together legislation to cut $261 billion in the coming decade.
It’s the first step in a GOP exercise aimed at cutting domestic programs to forestall big Pentagon budget cuts next year. The cuts to food stamps would reduce the monthly benefit for a family of four by almost $60 and would force up to 3 million people off the program altogether by tightening eligibility. The measure would also eliminate a grant program to states for social services like day care. Six House panels are producing legislation this week as the first step in implementing the GOP’s budget plan.
Family values and the dignity of work.
